biography

Lauded for her "warm, rich mezzo voice" and "well-timed comic charm," mezzo-soprano Genevieve Baglio is currently living in Walla Walla, Washington.  She teaches voice both privately and as a faculty member of Whitman College.  Genevieve is also an active performer in the Northwest region.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Genevieve received her BM in vocal performance at Whitman College.  She went on study at the Boston Conservatory of Music, and received her MM in vocal performance from Western Washington University, in her hometown of Bellingham, WA.

In that time, her solo performances were extensive, including the one woman opera Bon Appétit! for which she was advised directly by composer Lee Hoiby.  More recently, Genevieve has been seen in the roles of the Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music with the Western Washington Summer Stock company and Dido in Dido and Aeneas with the Divertimento Chamber Opera company.  Her recent concert engagements include the alto solo in the Mozart Requiem with the Consort Columbia and in Bach's Magnificat with the Whitman Chamber Singers.
