Lauded for
her "warm, rich mezzo voice" and "well-timed comic charm,"
Genevieve Baglio has been enjoying a successful debut
in the demanding world of classical singing.
She began
her musical studies at the age of 8, playing both the piano
and the cello. Though her cello playing brought her to
exciting venues as far off as Japan, it was a role in a high
school musical that planted the seed for a new instrument.
In college, Genevieve set out to study biology putting
music on the side, but in a twist of fate, she received a
scholarship to study voice, and her choice was made.
Since then, Genevieve has lent
her talent to a diverse range of lyric mezzo roles, most
recently including Julia Child in Lee Hoiby's Bon
Appetit! and The Mother Abbess in The Sound of
Music.
Genevieve currently teaches on
the voice faculty at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA.
